The study on the family- oriented nature of the 『Choicheukjon』

The objective of this thesis is to clarify what the family of the 『Choicheukjon』 in their deficiency and experience of war pursued. Choi-Cheuk grew up without a mother, Ok-Young withoot a father and Hong-do without parents. Therefore, these characters desired to have the perfect family. But their desire for the perfect family was frustrated by the repeated war. Overcoming the war, what these characters pursued was their love fer their family. The pursuit of the family in the 『Choicheukjon』 does not mean family as a tool. Instead, it shows the basic their family love. So, the 『Choicheukjon』 is a text that portrays the fundamental meaning of a family among the various characteristics of family paradigrn reflected in tre classical fictions. This can be the feflection of the modern consciousness of the 『Choicheukjon』 trying to get out of the traditional outlook of the worid in the middlle ages. On tre other hand, the 『Choicheukjon』 can be read as a genuine family narrative.
