A Study of Hong-back-wha-chon

The purpose of this study is to investigate the characterization, literary features and status in light of the novel history' of <Hoogbaekwhachon>(紅白花傳), which is a love story written in Chinese during the late Yi Dynasty. Though there have been accumulated plenty of researches en this novel from various respect, most of them are partial approaches rather than entire approach. Thus I want to prove the reality of this novel through the study of deepness. Owing to this study, this novel was appreciated properly. To begin with, I studied the characterization which is classified into three categories : antagonist of non-negative type, parents of conflicting axis, heroine of helper type. In the next place, I studied literary features of <Hoogbeekwhachon>(紅白花傳), which has realistic characterization and insert of new enjoy factor. Finally, I studied the significance and the literary status of <Hongbaekwhachon>(紅白花傳). As the result, <Hoogbaekwhachon>(紅白花傳) is a noble love story written in Chinese, which deals with love conflicts of high-class, shows modem aspect in the characterization and the view of character than previous works: They are divided into two types distinctively, good and evel. and trey are typical characters. Furthermore, <Hongbaekwhachon>(紅白花傳) is organized with love story ci en man and two women within the structure which is similar to domestic novel and family novel which have leaded 'Being lengthened' in the late Yi Dynasty dealing with complex problem between the two families. To close, <Hongbaekwhachon>(紅白花傳) has significance in the light of showing a new aspect of love story in the 18th and 19th century.
