Fraternal justice(友道) and its doctrine(友道論) have been passed down fer generation in the traditional Eastern culture. much of this has been proven through the various literary arts Mitten throughout Korean and Chinese history. After consulting much of these literary arts the author has examined many aspects of the general fraternity expressed in them. The man of virtue(君子), a person who studies teachings of the likes of Confucius (孔子) am Mencius(孟子), separates himself fran the class of the man of little conscience. He pursues moral righteousness while the latter persists in only his benefits. A man of virtue will sought to keep his fraternal justice, while the man of little conscience will opt to resort to his personal interests, or blindly following his counterpart to achieve it. The fraternal duty of a virtuous man is to be honest to his friends am to lead them to the right way of life. He is to bring out the beauty of his friends yet hide their differences. He is never to abandon the faith of his kin. He should embrace the public and worship good morals, and to do so he must praise and bond closely to those respectable, as well as take en a modest poise. A true sense of fraternal justice does not exist only between friends of an age, but also between the master and his pupil. the sovereign and his subject, or amongst people in different time periods who share the same ideas. Recognizing the true importance of fraternal justice and its doctrine inherent in ancient historical literature and its many exmples is an important step in finding a new paradigm of literary studies. Therefore, studying the origin of literary works dealing with fraternal justice(友道) and its doctrine(友道論) and finding its significance by contemplating how it had showed up in Korean classical literature would be the utmost task in this research.
