Generic dyanmics of the love affair classics in the 17th century

본 논문의 목적은 17세기에 출현한 다양한 애정소설의 장르적 역동성을 고찰하는 데 있다 17세기를 전후해서 나타나기 시작한 애정소설들은 애정 전기소설이라고 명명할 수 없는 다양한 장르적 지표를 보이고 있다 그러므로 17세기에 출현한 일군의 애정소설을 애정 전기소설이라고 통칭하기보다는 그 장르적 역동성을 면밀히 살펴볼 필요가 있는 것이다. 「운영전」은 전대의 애정 전기소설의 구심력에 의해 가장 강하게 견인되고 있는 텍스트이며 17세기의 애정 전기소설의 명맥을 보여주는 텍스트라고 할 수 있다. 현실적 삶과 인간 존재에 대한 반성의식이라는 애정 전기소설의 주제를 계속해서 이어받고 있다. 이에 비해 「주생전」은 애정의 좌절이라는 구조를 취하며 인간 삶이 직면한 비극적 상황을 통해 현실의 한계를 드러내고 있다. 「주생전」은 전대의 애정 전기소설의 기법적인 측면에서 벗어나 현실적 문제를 예각화시키면서 전대의 애정 전기소설의 문제의식만을 이어받고 있다. 「위경천전」과 「상사동기」와 「최척전」은 애정 전기소설의 장르적 정체성에서 보다 멀리 떨어져 있는 텍스트이다. 「위경천전」은 전대의 애정 전기소설이 담지한 인간의 세계 내적 상황에 대한 반성적 시각은 나타나지 않고 현실적 금제를 은폐하는 애정 소설적 성향만을 지니고 있다. 「상사동기」 역시 본격적인 애정소설로의 장르적 이동을 뚜렷하게 보여주는 텍스트이다. 이에 비해 「최척전」은 남녀의 애정이 가족애의 확산으로 나아가는 질적 변화를 겪고 있는 텍스트이다 「최척전」은 전란이라는 현실적 고난과 시련에 대한 허구적 응전으로 가족애를 추구하며 가족 서사로 전이되어 17세기 애정소설의 독특한 경지를 보여주고 있다.

The purpose of this study lies in looking into the generic dynamics of the love affair classics [愛情小說] written in the 17th century Korean literature. Love affair classics [愛情小說] first appeared around the 17th century, and shows various generic features which cannot be simply named as romance [愛情傳奇小說]. 「Unyeongieon(雲英傳)」 is a typical text affected by the centripetal forces of the most distinct romance[愛情傳奇小說] features of the previous periods, and shows a thread of connection with all the others published throughout the 17th century. 「Unyeongleon(雲英傳)」 also upholds the role of romance [愛情傳奇小說] reflecting over the presant life and human -being itself. Compared to 「Unyeongjeon(雲英傳)」, 「Jusaengjeon(周生傳)」 develops its plot with the feeling of frustrated love, and reveals the limitations of the realities by the facing tragic situations of human life. 「Jusaengieon(周生傳)」 deviates from the techniques of the typical romance[愛情傳奇小說], and only accedes to the issues of the previous periods emphasizing present, urgent problems of life. 「Wikeyongcheonjeon(違敬天傳)」, 「Sangsadonggi(想思洞記)」, and 「Choe cheokjeon(焦陟傳)」 are text which by far deviate from the generic identity of romance[愛情傳奇小說]. 「Wikeyongcheonjeon(違敬天傳)」 does not show any reflective view for the inner circumstances or struggles of the human world-which previous romances[愛情傳奇小說] used to seek after, but on the other hand, reflects the features of the love affair classics [愛情小說] hiding presently forbidden practices. 「Sangsadonggi(想思洞記)」 is a text which shows a distinct generic change into the regular style of the love affair classics [愛情小說]. However, 「Choejeokjeon(崔陟傳)」 is a text which shows a process of the love between the sexes expanding into the affection of all the members of a family. 「Choejeokjeon(崔陟傳)」 pursuits description of the family affection by some fictitious response against the facing sufferings and ordeals in the course of a war, and represents a peculiar stage of the love affair classics[愛情小說]17th century Korean literature.
