18세기 전반 연행의 사적 흐름과 연행록의 작자층 시고

A study of 18th century's first half yeon-hang's historic backgrounds and their authors (as a preparation toits literary analysis)

18세기 연행록들은 그 안에서 발견되는 작자층의 새로운 사상과 실제 창작 양상면에서 문학적으로 연구할 가치가 있음에도 불구하고 통시적이고 전반적인 연구가 이루어지지 않았다. 이에 본고는 18세기 연행록의 본격적 문학연구에 대한 기반적 연구로서 18세기 전반에 이루어진 연행의 역사적 배경과 연행록의 작자층에 관해 개괄했다. 구체적으로, 홍대용의 담헌연기가 지어지기 이전인 1750년대까지의 산문 연행록들을 개관하고, 작자층과 내용을 소략하게 살폈다. 서인계 관료 중 정사, 부사, 서장관에 의해 주로 지어진 18세기 전반의 연행록들은, 단순한 '고위관리 해외 유람의 과시적 기록'에서 벗어나 '六昌'의 학문적, 문예적 동아리를 중심으로 창작되면서 잡록과 일록의 글쓰기 방식으로 다양해지며, 풍속과 문물을 다양하고 세심하게 소개하고 있다. 그러면서 연행록 속 화자들의 관심은 이국의 문물 중 (가치가) 작고 실제적인 상업, 세제, 수레를 중심한 일상용품의 범주로까지 넓어지는데, 이는 실제 사행에서 문제가 되었던 시대의 관심사와도 상통하는 것이다. 또는 이들의 연행록에서 드러나는 '역관'의 이중적 이미지-정보제공자/민지 못할 소인배-는 이들의 글쓰기를 더욱 객관적이고 엄정하게 하는 하나의 요소로서 작용한다. 그래서 이들의 연행록이 단순한 '유락의 기록'에서 진일보 할 수 있게 한다.

18th century's yeon-hang roks (book of travel to Ch'ing) are worthy of literary research in terms of its author's new thoughts and phase of real writing yeon-hang roks. But it's not have been studied generally and chronolgically yet. So this study try to give conspectus of the first half yeon-hang's historic backgrounds and their authors, as a preparation to its literary analysis. In this paper, I describe yeon-hang roks title written in 1700 to 1750, and observe the status of its authors and its contents. The first half of 18th century's yeon-hang roks are almost written by SEO-In(西人) high-rank officers, and their role in the official travel is sam-jung-sa(三正使). But their yeon-hang roks are not mere 'record of dignitary's brisk sightseeing'. They are also members of Yuk-chang(六昌) school, and their yeon-hang roks' contents focus to Ch'ing's manners and customs so deeply and diversely, that yeon-hang roks' speaker's concern increase on ordinary and pragmatic thing;for example, markets, Customs, instruments, and Economy. And their style of writing diverse into miscellous notes and traditional diary, so we can presume that yeon-hang roks can refine its litarary forms.
