A Study on Subway Guide App for Blind People

The rapid progress in the information and communication technology as well as the popularization of smart phones has brought modern people a lot of convenience. However, in case of those with poor information provided, they are virtually not enjoying any benefit of the convenience due to the severe lack in the number of specialized applications. In this paper, designing of a subway mobile application has been proposed especially for the visually handicapped from among those with poor information provided. The proposed application is to provide the users with the functions of providing information on route search, subway arrival, subway phone numbers and explanation on subway usage. The application proposed by this paper bears the significance of an engineering tool that will open the possibility of being used as mobile appliances for the visually handicapped and will satisfy their right to travel around quite freely.
