TOEIC is an exam that provides an important measure of a Korean student's proficiency in English. In spite of its importance, we still face the problem of encouraging the interest of students who are starting a TOEIC course. This study focuses on a method by which studying English through movies can spark a beginner's interest, thus resulting in higher TOEIC scores. To provoke the beginners' interest, "movie" is chosen as a text material. The textbook "TOEIC through Movies" is made by using the fourteen movies. This textbook is applied to the "Movie and TOEIC" course at Kookmin University. This study uses the questionnaire to observe the students' responses and opinions of the "TOEIC through Movies" course. The results have been very positive. First, an interest in TOEIC is extremely high. Second, students take a very positive attitude towards using movies. Third, listening tests, grammar studies and reading reviews based on the movies can be made available for studying TOEIC. Next, this study uses the achievement test to measure the student's learning internalization. The achievement test is divided into three types: listening, grammar and reading. As a result, each part of these three records have resulted in high scores. This means that many learners have done very well on the "TOEIC through Movies" course, and TOEIC study based on movies is very effective, especially for beginners. In summary, it has been proved that studying TOEIC through movies can be very helpful for beginners.
