『巽窩漫錄自序』를 통해 본 鄕吏 출신 文人 金敬天의 생애

Study on Kim Kyong-chun's Life by Researching 『Sonwa Manrok』

필자는 1999년 소설 『廉丞傳』과 그 작자 金敬天(또는 金克敬)을 학계에 처음 발굴 소개한 바 있고, 『巽窩漫錄自序』(규장각 소장, 필사본 1책)가 각종 고서목록에 기재된 것처럼 李益著의 著가 아니라 金敬天의 친필 잡록임을 밝힌 바 있다. 최근 『염승전』의 이본이 6종 더 출현함으로써 『염승전』의 異本에 대해 연구할 필요성이 다시 제기되었고, '이조후기 여항문학총서 속편'의 편찬 작업과 관련하여 鄕吏의 저작을 포함할 것인지, 포함한다면 어느 자료까지 할 것인가가 새로운 논제로 떠올랐다. 이런 점들에서 향리 출신 문인 김경천에 대한 선행연구를 보충하기 위해 본고를 작성하게 되었다. 본고에서는 먼저 김경천의 생애를 좀 더 구체적으로 살펴보았다. 특히 교유자의 면면과 관련 작품들을 다양하게 소개하였다. 그리고 『손와만록자서』의 내용을 파악하고 그 가치를 추출해보았다. 또, 소설 『염승전』을 창작하게 된 계기 및 배경, 그 異本의 현황을 제시하였다. 기존 연구에서 日錄 『公私記攷』에 나타난 19세기 서리의 생활상이 고찰된 바 있으나 본 잡록을 통해 18세기초 鄕吏 출신 문인의 일생이 구체적 사례로 드러났다는 데 의의가 있다.

I discovered a classical novel named 『Yeomseungjeon』 in 1999, and I also declared that the author of 『Sonwa Manrok』 was not Lee Ik-jeo as known in the academic world, but Kim Kyong-chun. Since six new different versions of 『Yeomseungjeon』 came out recently, we need to research again those books. And there are also two topics remained. The first question is that whether we need to include local official's writings when we compile the sequel of series of middle class literature. And the other question is that determining the range of that series. For this purpose, I prepared this paper to compensate former discussion. First of all, I explained Kim Kyong-chun's life concretely. I introduced his writings and his fellows variously and minutely. Then I grasp the contents of 『Sonwa Manrok』 and identified its value. And I revealed the background and motive of writing 『Yeomseungjeon』. Though a life of local official in the late of 19th century was considered by former research, I tried to show a man's life throughly by examining one's writing.
