북한이탈주민의 남한사회적응을 위한 코칭프로그램 사례연구

The effectiveness of a coaching program for North Korean defectors experiencing social maladaptation in South Korea

이 논문에서는 코칭프로그램이 북한이탈주민들의 정서적 안정을 도모해 사회부적응 양상을 해소하고 삶의 질을 높인다는 가정 하에 북한이탈주민들의 교육에서 코칭프로그램을 접목시키고 그 영향력을 분석했다. 이를 위해 우선 북한이탈주민들의 남한사회 부적응 양상을 살펴보고 정서적 안정화를 위해 코칭프로그램이 적합한 지를 살펴보았다. 세부적으로는 북한이탈주민 4명을 대상으로 정서안정화 방안의 일환으로 코칭프로그램 교육을 실시했으며 심층면접을 통해 코칭프로그램이 이들에게 어떤 영향을 미쳤는지를 알아보았다. 심층면접 결과 코칭프로그램은 대상자에게 미래에 대한 희망과 낙관성을 기대할 수 있었다. 이는 기존의 코칭프로그램의 효용성 연구와 이번 심층면접 결과 등을 미루어볼 때 코칭프로그램은 북한이탈주민의 정서적 안정화에 기여하고 있다고 할 수 있다. 실제 북한이탈주민들에게 코칭교육을 실시했을 때 대상자들의 만족감이 높게 나타났으며 이들은 하나원이나 하나센터 등 북한이탈주민들을 전문적으로 교육을 하는 기관에서도 접목되길 기대했다. 한편 코칭프로그램이 북한이탈주민들에게 적용되었을 때 실질적으로 정서적 안정에 기여하고 있음이 밝혀진 만큼 코칭프로그램의 효과를 객관적으로 판단할 수 있는 연구가 지속되어야 할 것으로 보인다. 개개인의 편차가 있겠지만 북한이탈주민의 정서적 안정화가 객관적으로 판단될 수 있는 근거기준이 마련돼야 통일직후 남북 주민들의 정서적 이질감으로 일어날 수 있는 심리적 혼란을 계량화하고 이의 해소에도 계량적 기준을 적용할 수 있어야 남북통합에 대비할 수 있기 때문이다.

This study analyses the effect of a combined approach to educational programs for North Korean defectors. It is based on the assumption that the coaching program leads to the psychological stabilization of North Korean defectors, thereby solving problems resulting from social maladaptation while improving quality of life. In this study the author evaluated the social maladaptation of defectors along with the suitability of the coaching program for psychological stabilization. Four defectors participated in the coaching program for psychological stabilization and were later interviewed in-depth to evaluate the effects of the coaching program. The interviews indicated that the coaching program encourages participants to maintain an optimistic view for their future, contributing to overall psychological stabilization. The participants in this program were greatly satisfied, and they now desire to be introduced to North Korean defectors education institutions such as 'Hanawon' or 'Hana Center'. Meanwhile, the study indicates how the coaching program contributes to psychological stabilization. In order for the effects of the program to be evaluated objectively, it is recommended that the study remain under evaluation. An evaluation standard for the psychological stabilization of defectors should be established despite possible individual deviations. After such a standard is established, the psychological confusion resulting from emotional disharmony can be measured and solved, preparing the way for the eventual reunification of North and South Korea.
