Development of Trade Business Diffusion Indices by Industry

South Korea signed a Free Trade Agreement(FTA) with China last November 11, 2014 and another FTA with New Zealand last November 15, 2014. To date, Korea signed FTAs with 52 countries. According to the World Bank, Korea, which has FTAs covering 73.5% of the world s economic territory, is the world s third-largest FTA-toting country. These facts tell us that the need for information which can be established in a timely manner and which can be used in dishing out efficient trade-related policies for the country s economic development is more urgent now than ever. In this paper, we develop the Trade Business Diffusion Index by Industry so that potential users in the private sector, academe and government can better understand in more detail and estimate trade(export) flow of South Korea which is highly dependent on trade.
