This study examines links between the adoption of an eco-friendly innovation strategy and the business performance of MNCs operating of Korea. It illustrates ways in which the eco-friendly innovation strategy is itself influenced by significant environmental orientation, R&D competence, complementary assets. Drawing on the resource-based view and strategic choice theory for the driver s perspective, this study hypothesizes that environmental orientation, R&D competence, complementary assets are positively related in the eco-friendly innovation strategy of Korea MNCs. Data were obtained through a survey sent to the 519 headquarters of Korea-based MNCs publicly listed in the Korean Stock Exchange as of June 2013. Results show that all variables are related to the environmental innovation strategy significantly. Furthermore, the environmental innovation strategy also affects business performance of MNCs positively. Therefore, these findings suggest that specific resources of organizations are an important factor in the adoption of the environmental innovation strategy and agree with the work of previous researchers that environmental innovation strategies positively influence firm business performance while reducing environmental impact.
