This paper intends to study the differences on the payment methods between Korea and China. There are some differences in the economic, social and cultural, legal aspects on the payment methods between both countries. First, there are two main differences in the economic aspects on the payment methods between both countries. Korea rarely uses Korean currency; (Won) as a currency for settling trading accounts in international trade, but China is increasingly using Chinese currency; (Yuan) as a currency for settling trading accounts in international trade. Next, nominated banks in Korea perform an active role, on the other hand, the banks in China perform a passive role. Secondly, there are two main differences in the social and cultural aspects on the payment methods between both countries. Korea complies with the international standard banking practices well, but China often ignores the international standard banking practices to protect Chinese people. Next, Korean parties concerned are good at knowledge of trade practices, on the other hand, Chinese parties concerned are poor at knowledge of trade practices. Lastly, there are two main differences in the legal aspects on the payment methods between both countries. Korean courts rarely allow an injunction in cases of asserted fraud, on the other hand, Chinese courts allow an injunction easily in cases of asserted fraud. Next, Korea does not have any law or rule regulating letter of credit transactions; On the other hand, China has The Provisions of the Supreme People s Court on Some Issues Concerning the Trial of Cases of Disputes over Letter of Credit.
