Recently, the Islamic market has emerged as an important sector for Korean food, pharmaceutical, cosmetics and other exporting industries. Therefore, the understanding of Halal and Halal certification are inevitable to access the Islamic market. But Korea is rather lagged behind in terms of penetrating the global halal industry compared to other countries and multinational corporations. Furthermore, some related studies on this issue only exist. The objective of this paper is to analyse the effective strategy for Korean firms access to the Islamic market by analysing the present state of Korean firms export to Islamic countries and an acquisition of Korean firms Halal certification and, to give managerial and policy implications for Korean firms and government. The results and suggestions of this study are as follows; First, both Korean government and firms must recognize the importance of the Islamic market and the understanding of Halal certification. Second, Korean government must support Korean firms access to the Islamic market by establishing an agency that specializes in Islamic business and Halal certification. Third, Korean firms must establish an effective entry strategy to the Islamic market on the basis of acquisition of Halal certification and a fully understanding of Islamic culture.
