학교폭력의 원인에 대한 연구

A Study on the Cause of School Violence : Focusing on the Effect of Neighborhood Characteristics

본 연구는 청소년들의 학교폭력을 이해함에 있어 지역사회가 갖는 중요성을 실증적 분석을 통해 검증하였다. 특히 무질서한 행위와 환경이 학교폭력에 미치는 직접적 영향과 개인적 특성과의 상호작용을 통해 학교폭력을 증가시키는 단계 간 상호작용효과를 분석하고자 서울과 부산 소재 40개교 2,008명의 중ㆍ고교생을 대상으로 실시한 설문자료를 이용하여 위계적 일반화선형모형을 구축ㆍ분석하였다. 분석 결과, 개인적 변수들만을 포함한 학교 내 모형에서는 남학생일수록, 사회적 유대가 약할수록, 일탈성향이 강한 친구들의 영향을 많이 받을수록 학교폭력을 더 많이 행사하는 것으로 드러났다. 학교와 지역사회 관련 변수들을 포함한 학교 간 모형에서는 물리적 무질서가 유의미한 영향을 미쳤고, 단계 간 상호작용효과는 사회적 유대와 유해환경에서 도출되었다. 이러한 결과는 가족, 학교, 사회에 대한 건전한 인성교육과 또래 간 바람직한 사회연결망 구축이 필요하며, 아울러 물리적 무질서에 대한 정확한 실태파악과 적극적인 조치가 필요함을 보여주었다. 더 나아가 유해환경에 대한 엄격한 관리 없이 사회적 유대를 증가시키려는 노력은 큰 효과를 기대하기 어렵기 때문에 주변 유해환경에 대한 적극적인 대책이 선행 또는 병행되어야 함을 알 수 있었다.

This study performed an empirical analysis to examine the important role of neighborhood contexts in understanding the school violence. In particular, this study analyzed how disorderly behaviors and environments influence the school violence either directly or through cross-level interactions with individual characteristics. To this end, a Hierarchical Generalized Linear Model was constructed and analyzed utilizing a survey dataset of 2,008 students in 40 middle and high schools in Seoul and Busan. The within-school model (random coefficient model) showed that male students with a low level of social bond and a high level of delinquent-peer impact tend to commit more violences than their female counterparts with a high level of social bond and a low level of delinquent-peer impact. In the between-school model (conditional model), direct effects of physical disorder and interaction effects of adult facilities and social bond on school violence were observed. Those results suggested that the values of sound family, school, and society be educated and pro-social networks among the juveniles be constructed. And proactive countermeasures against physical disorder need to be taken. Further, the negative interaction effect of adult facilities and social bond highlighted the importance of dealing with neighborhood adult facilities before taking any measure to strengthen social bond.
