This paper is to examine the current situation and issues on training the instructors who are to teach Korean language and culture to the multicultural families in Korea. Foreigners coming into contact with a foreign society are confronted with a language barrier and a cultural barrier at the same time. The multicultural families in Korea must be able to understand the Korean culture and to command the Korean language. In accordance with the current demand, the Korean government and the Korean society are training instructors who will teach the Korean language and culture to these families. But yet plenty of problems are seen in the system and method for training the instructors. This research looks into the actual conditions of training the instructors and makes some proposals for an effective training system.
