芝峯李睟光의 王世貞수용에 대한 일고찰

A study on the adoption of Wang Shizhen(王世貞) by Jibong Yi Sukwang(李睟光)

조선후기 한문학은 明淸시대 문예이론과 밀접한 연관을 맺으며 발전해 왔고, 그중 王世貞만큼 많은 영향을 미친 인물도 없다. 李睟光은 왕세정 수용의 초창기 면모를 잘 보여준다는 점에 주목되는데, 그의 저술『芝峯類說』에는 王世貞에 대한 언급이 무려 101 항목에 걸쳐 등장한다.『지봉유설』에는 漢唐代에서부터 明末까지 수많은 중국 문인들의 비평자료들이 언급되지만, 왕세정만큼 많이 인용되는 경우는 드물다. 博學의 추구와 宋明時代의 다양한 문예이론에 대한 학식을 축적한 李睟光은 당시 중국 최고의 문인인 王世貞에 대해 적극적으로 관심을 가지고 그를 주체적으로 수용하였다. 이수광은 송명대 저술에 대한 통독, 중국 현지 문인들과의 교류, 박학의 추구에서 오는 비평적 具眼을 통해 왕세정의 논리의 풍부하고 다채로운 측면을 포착 인지할 수 있었고, 왕세정 수용 초창기임에도 불구하고 그에 대해 심도 있는 비판적 읽기를 수행할 수 있었다.

The Sino-Korean literature at the late Joseon period developed due to the close relation with literary theories of the Ming and Qing periods. No other person than Wang Shizhen(王世貞) had the greatest impact upon it. It is noteworthy that Yi Sukwang(李睟光) showed characteristic features of initial period of adoption of Wang Shizhen. His work“『Jibongyuseol(芝峯類說)』”mentions Wang Shizhen at 101 places. While『Jibongyuseol』refers to critical resources of numerous Chinese literary figures from the Han and Tang periods to the late Ming period, Wang Shizhen is the most frequently cited figure. With great interest in Wang Shizhen, Yi Sukwang subjectively adopted Wang Shizhen who was one of the greatest literary figures of the time in China with the pursuit of great learning and accumulation of profound knowledge on various literary theories in the Song and Ming periods. By means of perusal of the extensive writings of Wang Shizhen, exchange with the Chinese literary figures and critical perspective from the pursuit of great learning, Yi Sukwang could perceive rich and diverse aspects of the logic of Wang Shizhen. Although it was the initial period of adoption of Wang Shizhen who possessed both academic knowledge and theories, Yi Sukwang could carry out an in-depth critical reading on Wang Shizhen.
