다문화가정 아동의 문화적응 척도 개발 연구

A Study on the Development of Cultural Adaptation Scale for Multicultural Family Children

본 연구는 다문화가정 아동들이 겪게 되는 문화적응 상황을 검토하여 다문화가정 아동의 문화적응성을 측정하는 척도를 개발하고 문화적응에 속하는 하위요인을 규명하고자 한다. 이를 통해 단일민족사회에서 다문화사회로 변화하고 있는 우리사회의 통합과 발전을 위해 제도적이고 학문적 대처방안을 마련할 수 있을 것이다. 연구대상은 서울, 인천, 경상북도에 소재한 초등학교와 외국인 학교로 51개의 초등학교에 재학 중인 291명의 다문화가정 아동들이다. 연구결과, 문화적응과 조절 척도(CAAS)는 긍정적 적응, 학습된 무기력감, 문화적 둔감성, 고통이라는 네 개의 하위요인으로 구성되었다. 예비문항 59개를 구성하여 일차적으로 아동학 전공교수 2인에 의해 수정되었고, 이차적으로 아동학 전공교수 3인과 국문학 전공자 1인을 통해 문항의 타당성과 문맥의 적절성을 검증받았다. 또한 현장에 있는 다문화 교사 5인과 다문화가정 아동 10명에게 현실적으로 다문화가정의 아동들이 겪고 있는 문제들을 다루는 문항인지를 살펴보도록 하여 내용타당도를 검증받아 49문항이 되었다. 구성타당도는 탐색적 요인분석과 확인적 요인분석을 통해 검증하여 타당성을 입증하였다. 신뢰도 분석에서 Cronbach's ∂값이 .769로 신뢰로운 도구임을 입증하였다. 본 연구에서는 요인분석 결과로 나타난 네 개의 하위요인을 문화정체감, 정서적 무기력감, 문화적 개방성, 사회적 소외감으로 명명하였다.

This study aims to develop the Multicultural Adaptation Scale for children. For the study, 291 children of 4th through 9th grader from multicultural families in Korea were selected as the subjects. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, explanatory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha, and split-half reliability. The results of the study were as follow: 1) The content validity of the scale was confirmed by five experts of child education major, five multicultural teachers, and ten children from multicultural families. 2) The construct validity of the Scale was supported by exploratory factor analysis. There were 4 sub-factors of 48 items in the multicultural adaptation scale; multicultural identity, affective helplessness, multicultural openness, social alienation. The construct validity of the Scale was verified by confirmatory factor analysis. 3) The realibility of the scale was also verified. The calculated reliability of the Scale was .769 on Cronbach's alpha. The Spearman-Brown correlation for the reliability of the scale yielded .765 on split-half reliability. In conclusion, the developed Multicultural Adaptation Scale was valid enough to measure children's adjustment of the culture.
