A Study of Enhancement of Hair Volume Using Practical Haircut Techniques

Haircut techniques have continuously developed in terms of haircut system and preciseness through continued research activities. Thanks to this kind of advancement, haircut trends and methods have become more specific. In haircut techniques, certain principles have always existed. As a tool for haircut education, mannequins have been widely used. If the target person’s hair has grown to a certain length, and smooth hair texture and growth pattern are found and measured with the same measurement unit and method all the time, the reinterpretation of haircut technique principles would become useless. In other words, the target of the haircut is not a wig for haircut practices but customers with various types of hair texture, hair growth patterns, head shapes and facial shapes. However, conventional haircut education has failed to reflect these aspects. Therefore, it is necessary to come up with haircut education which reflects these diversities. In other words, there should be technical improvement in haircut techniques considering diversities in customers’ head shapes, hair texture, growth patterns and hair density. Hence, it is urgent to develop new haircut techniques which can overcome limitations which are found in current haircut education using a uniform mannequin. In other words, it is necessary to introduce a progressive and creative haircut technique. Therefore, this study has attempted to perform an in-depth analysis of blocking, hair position, parting, distribution, angle, finger position, section (belonging to parting which is directly related with hair volume) and haircut techniques.
