칼빈의 기독교사회복지에 나타난 이념과 실천에 관한 연구

본 연구는 칼빈의 신학사상에 나타난 기독교사회복지의 이념과 실천에 관한 것이다. 칼빈은 종교개혁가로서 16세기에 제네바에서 목회사역을 통해 기독교사회복지에 방향제시를 하였다. 칼빈의 기독교 사회복지 이념은 인간관과 국가관에 있다. 여기서 칼빈은 인간관을 성경에 근거하여 이웃 사랑이라고 구정하며, 국가관은 이러한 이웃 사랑에 대해 국가가 적극적인 개입을 해야 한다고 주장한다. 칼빈은 사회복지 전달체계에서 집사제도를 활용하여 교회 집사제도가 사회복지 전달체계를 형성하게 한다. 집사는 교회에서 구제물자를 분배하고 가난한 자들을 돌보고 빈민 구제금을 관리하는 일을 맡은 사람들이다. 칼빈은 구체적으로 기독교사회복지실천을 시행한다. 첫째, 구빈원을 통해서 기독교 의료사업의 기능과 어려운 사람들을 돕는 자선과 구호의 기능을 겸한다. 둘째, 프랑스 구호 기금 등을 통해 종교적 난민들에 대한 원조를 하였다. 넷째, 고리대금업을 성경적으로 해석하여 건전한 사금융으로 양성, 부의 재분배에 노력하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 고찰한 칼빈의 이웃 사랑에 관한 확고한 복지이념과 다양한 사회복지실천은 현대 기독교사회복지에 있어서 함의를 제시하고 있다. 또한 칼빈의 기독교사회복지에 대한 이념과 실천은 그의 신학 사상과 더불어 당시는 물론 현대에 이르기까지 엄청난 영향을 미치고 있다.
