After an atheistic period at the end of the 20th century, the revival of the Russian religious speech has begun. Today, priests address to the people in the churches, on television and on the radio. The religious style of the modern Russian language has been specially marked. A sermon (a genre of religious style) plays a big role in the missionary work of the Orthodox Church. The object of our analysis is the orthodox sermon of Yekaterinburg and Seoul. The sermon implements the moral function in modern society. Special verbal and nonverbal means help to influence on the minds of parishioners. These are used to establish the contact between the priest and parishioners. It's important because the addressee of the sermon are not only religious people but also skeptics. Verbal means include: address, imperative structures, questions, special regulatory structures. These are directed to create a dialogue in the text of the sermon. The dialogue between priest and people also takes place through gestures and facial expressions. These are directed to reveal the reaction of the addressee. These verbal and nonverbal means of contact are aimed to familiarize people to the Church. Special research of communicative means in the sermon will help to preach more effectively.
