The objectives of this study were to analyze the effectiveness of educational programs for rural community leaders and to suggest directions for improving educational programs for rural development. This study was carried out through literature review and questionnaire interviews with rural leaders. The population of this study was 217 village leaders who attended educational programs for rural development projects. Based on the findings, the following suggestions should be considered for improving the educational programs for rural community leaders: 1) The educational program should be designed to meet the actual needs and to share the information of the educational history of rural leaders. 2) More intensive programs should be implemented to enhance the competency levels of rural leaders. 3) Rural leaders with under 5 years of experience should be encouraged to participate more effective educational programs. 4) Development programs and manuals should be extended for the staff members in charge of the educational programs.
