Jordan is an orthodox Islamic country, and most of the Jordanians are proud that they are the direct descendants of Muhammad, the founder of Islam. Therefore Jordan did her best to retain her Islamic identity after independence from the United Kingdom. This endeavor was carried out under the title of Arabization, which aimed at the renewal of Arabic language. Language is a means of showing identity and solidarity among individuals and groups in a society. The Arab Muslim people, including Jordanians, are strongly proud of their language, modern Standard Arabic. Therefore Jordan have actively carried forward this policy (Arabization) to regain their proud and identity, which helps us to understand the language situation of Jordan and its character through the process of Arabization in Jordan. In this paper, I conducted research on the United Kingdom’s colonial policy that influenced the Jordan's linguistic situation and the process of Arabization after independence from the United Kingdom. I also investigated the language-user attitudes toward Arabization in the context of language policy in Jordan, as well as the influence of English in Jordan that has significantly grown and will be stronger in the future. I studied the relation between modern standard Arabic and English, and Jordanian attitudes toward the two languages. Eventually, this paper aims to analyze the linguistic situation of modern standard Arabic and English, and the hybridity of language caused by contact, and the pattern of the hybridity.
