Plans to Introduce E-books to South Korea's Prison Libraries

수용자에 대한 교정의 처우 이데올르기가 응보적 형벌이론에서 교정복지주의로 이행되어 가면서 수용자에 대한 독서 장려는 수용자에 대한 교화의 수단으로 되어 왔다. 그런데 우리나라의 교도소에서의 수용자에 대한 독서를 이용한 독서치료프로그램은 어디까지나 주로 종이책에 의한 독서치료로 이루어고 있으며 현재 이렇게 많이 이루어지고 있다. 그러나 전자기술의 발달로 인하여 전자도서의 이용이 급증하는 시대의 추세에 맞추어 교도소의 도서관에서도 전자도서관의 구축이 필요한 시점이다. 따라서 본 논문은 교도소내의 전자도서관의 구축과 관련된 효과와 그 한계와 문제점을 다루고자 한다.

Reading has settled as a way of rehabilitation for prisoners since the ideology for prisoner treatment shifted from penology to correction welfare. The remedial reading program is being offered in South Korea's prison libraries, which mainly have paper books instead of e-books. E-books, however, are widespread due to development of electronics, and thus building an electronic library for the prison population becomes necessary. Given this, this paper examines effects and problems in relation to using e-books within the prison.
