민담 <내 복에 산다>에 나타난 복의 의미와 환대의 근거

Implication and Hospitality Grounds of Fortunes Described by the Folktale <Living on My Fortune>

막내딸은 아버지의 권위를 부정하고 자기 복을 주장했기 때문에 집에서 쫓겨났다. 그럼에도 불구하고 그는 거지가 되어 나타난 아버지를 환대했다. 본 연구는 딸이 말한 복의 의미와 그가 보여준 환대의 근거를 밝히는 데 목적을 둔다. 복은 하늘이 부여한 생명력이고 사람을 살게 하는 힘이다. 이 때문에 막내딸은 집에서 쫓겨나도 끝내 살아나 거부가 될 수 있었다. 그렇다면 복과 환대는 어떻게 연결되는가. 복, 만물을 살게 하는 힘은 언제나 새롭게 생성되면서 과거의 상처까지 낫게 한다. 이 줄기찬 생의 흐름이 바로 선(善)이고 깨진 관계도 새롭게 생성해내는 환대의 원천이다. 막내딸이 가부장권을 부정할 수 있었던 근거도 여기에 있다. 이는 사회의 고정된 경계를 무너뜨리고 새로운 질서를 창조한다는 점에서 성리학의 한계를 넘어선다.

The youngest daughter denied the authorities of her father and argued her own fortune, finally being expelled from her father's house. Nevertheless, she gave hospitality to her father when he came to her as a beggar. This study was designed to explore the implication of fortune insisted by her and to grasp the grounds of her hospitality. Fortune is a force to allow people to live, so it's a life force given by heaven. That's why the youngest daughter could accumulate huge wealth even though she was ousted. If so, how is fortune co-related to hospitality? Fortune, the force to revive everything, is always reborn and newly reformed to heal the scars of people. Such a continuous flow of life is "Virtue(善)" which is internalized in our bodies and minds. The hospitality shown by the youngest daughter is an expression of such power to go beyond trauma to a new relation. It's also the ground for her to deny the patriarchal power, which exceeds the limit of Neo-Confucianism in that it breaks social stereotypes and creates new order of world.
