한국의 아랍어 교육 실태와 개선 방안에 관한 연구

A Study on Current Situation of Teaching Arabic and Its Improvement in Korea

Recently, the proclamation of the Ministry of Education for offering the Arabic courses in high school and middle has stimulated Arabic teachers research the approaches to the teaching Arabic in Korea. As a result, the Arabic program in Korea is to adopt a four skills approach(i.e. an integrated approach) to the teaching of all language courses. All students are expected to be able to function adequately within all four skills on the proficiency-based instruction. They are expected to acquire some competence in all four skills whatever their motivations for learning the language may be. Few courses in Arabic at the universities in Korea are proficiency-based. Students will have to evaluate their ability to perform authentic tasks in the Arabic language. Consequently, we introduced a scale devised by the American Council for the Teaching of Foreign Languages, in a way which assessed their ability to communicate with and receive information from, a native speaker of the target language.
