al-Ard(The Soil) is the first work written in the style of socialist realism. It tells of the life of the Egyptian peasant and a village community conducting a running fight against petty officials who, at the bidding of the local pasha-feudal landlord, route a new railroad over the peasant's land in the early thirties. It attained great success in the objective description of the real world. And it work out al-Sharqāwi's philosophy through the narrative strategy. Therefore this paper will examine the narrative strategy - the interplay of different forms of narration. The retrospective mode of the first-person narrator of young boy appears in 1-3 chapters and 21-22 chapters : the double layer of narrative voice who has objective distance from he event in time and the voice of the immediate experience. In main stories, the omniscient third-person narrator's perspective is directed toward the objective actual world and exposes the social injustice or structural contradiction of the undeveloped society. al-Ard shows the objectification of the subjective experience. The distinctive interaction of narrators brings to objectiveness and credence of narration.
