A Study on the Discourse Analysis in Formal and Informal Situations

It is generally believed that the written Arabic is used in the formal situation and the spoken Arabic is in informal situation. However, we can often find the interference of spoken language to the formal situation in the Arab's discourse. The motivation of such interference, the reason and the form have been considered one of the most important issues in the sociolinguistic research. This paper attempt to analyze the discourse in formal and informal situation on the basis of the recorded material between professors or the students in Birzeit University in Palestine. The major goal of this study is to explain the speaking way of the native speaker in the formal and informal situation and to verify each phonology, syntax and morphology features.
