A Study on the Development of the Modern Arabic Verse -Emphasizing on the Classical Arabic Traditions and the Influences of the Western Poetry-

This paper aims to see the sychronic and historical development of Arabic Verse for the Free Verse. The Classical Arabic Verse was already completed in the era of Jahilliyah formally Through the ere or Umaiyah, Abbasiyah the Classical Arabic Verse was lasted in forms although his some subjects was changed because of Islamic influence. The Arabic Verse was met the Dark Age in the era of Mamluks and Turks. At last in 1978, the French campaign in Egypt the Arabic Verse was awaken from the deep sleep. In the results of Neo-Classical poets, Diwan poets, Mahjar poets and Appolo poets' countless poetic experiment for Free Verse the Modern Arabic Free Verse put the steps from the second half of 1940's. It is necessary to point out that the Modern Arabic Free Verse was born by the tradition of the Classical Arabic Verse and the Western Free Verse.
