A Study on the Relation between Al-Mu'tamid and Ibn Ammār in Their Poems

'Ibn 'Ammār became famous as an intimate friend and vizier of Al-Mu'tmamid. Al-Mu｀tataḍid recalled his son and 'Ibn ｀Ammār to Seville, in other to keep a closer watch over them. Soon after that, Al-Mu｀taḍid banished 'Ibn 'Ammār from Sevile, and the latter took refuge at court of Zaragoza. Ehen Al-Mu｀tad¸id died, Al-Mu｀tamid recalled at once his friend. 'Ibn ｀Ammār's diplomatic success may have prompted him to induce Al-Mu' tamid that he should entrust the ambitious vizier with the mission of conquering Murcia. 'Ibn ｀Amma­r was able to enter Murcia as a conqueror. Forthwith, he began to act as an independent ruler. At last, Al-Mu｀tamid killed his former friend by the axe.
