A Study on Arabic Personal Name

This paper is intended as a study on Arabic Personal names. In connection with naming for the new born boy, the ancient Arabs established the following principles ; 1)them names conveying shudder to the listeners, 2) naming according to the animal which the caller comes to meet for the first time, 3)naming according to the bodily features and so on. On the other hand, the modern Arabs apply the diverse methods to find better names. They prefer the religious names to other names because their daily lives are closely connected to Islam. Also we came to reach the two categories through the study on the compound personal name, one to prefix formation, the other to suffix one. Through the compound personal names, we could understand that almost of their names smell of the religious scent.
