Iraqi Colloquial and Its Effective Teaching Device: Emphasizing on Its Linguistic Features

This paper examines Iraqi Colloqial Arabic and Its Effective Teaching Device. To make a special study of this paper, the research perfonned the field survey. This is to know Iraqi people's views for the dialect through the questionnaire survey. There are three main dialects in Iraqi that can be distinguished as northern, central and southern. The Research confined the main subject to the central Arabic which is used in the center of Iraq including Baghdad. This paper consist of four chapters. The Chapter 1 deals with the importance of Iraq and classification of Iraqi Colloquial Arabic and the chapter 2 deals with the language situation of Iraq. The chapter 3 is the core of this paper, which analyzes the linguistic features of Iraqi Colloquial Arabic. Finally the chapter 4 is the results of the questionnaire survey and field survey. But strictly speaking, Iraqi Colloquial Arabic is similar to the Literary Arabic and maintains the Hamaz's phonetic value for all that most of the Colloquial Arabic lost it. Comparing to English , we can find the unique phonemes of Iraqi Colloquial Arabic as ,follows; /', h, kh, s, d t, z, ? gh, q/. There are five long vowels in Iraqi Colloquial Arabic as follows: /a/, /i/, /o/, /e/,/u/. Some of the Number system and the future particle /ha/ are influenced by Egyptian Colloquial Arabic. Iraqi Colloquial has four particles of negation; /m u/ to negate the adverb & adjective, /ma/ or /ma/ to negate the verb and the class of it, /la/ to negate the sentence of 'yes or 'no', /wala/ to negate more than two facts.
