A Study on the Korean Transliteration System of Arabic Language-Based on Comparison of Distinctive Features

The Arabic language, which has been widely used centering about the Islamic world, has influence on other languages. And also in these days it is being used as an official language at international societies. The foreign words derived from the Arabic language are increasing steadily, and also the necessity of its transliteration is increasing. However, the most transliteration has been expressed through foreign letters or their pronunciation, and is based on the personal habits. It is because there is no principle and coherence of the transliteration from Arabic to Korean. One goes so far as to transliterate as he pleases. The enactment and propagation of Korean transliteration for Arabic words will be exemplary standard for the other languages of the Islamic world. Therefore the enactment of Korean transliteration for Arabic words is essential. The prompt enactment and propagation should be made lest wrong transliteration should be customary.
