쿨리트 알-쿠리의 소설에 나타난 여성성

A Study on Feminine Character in Fiction of Kūlīt al-Khūrī

Kūlīt al-Khūrī is considered as one of the distinguished women writers of Syria. She was born in Damascus into a Christian family of some prominence and was educated there as well, getting an early exposure to French literature. The protagonist of r 『Ayyām Ma'ahu』, her first novel(1959),struggles against society in general and her family in particular as she wants to find her personal identity. The protagonist of 『Wa marra al-Ṣaīf』, her third novel(1975),tries to decide her future specially her love, separate with her own will as development of her identity has grown more up. In this study, I adopted the approach set by the French feminist and literary critic, Hélèn Cixous(1937). Cixssu developed a Écriture Féminine that accepts the difference between men and women, shows women's own ability in writing. This study aims at evaluation of early feminism novel in Syria as a method of understanding feminism trend in it.
