Ghādah al-Sammān(1942 ~ ) is one of the most widely read Arab Women novelists. today. Originally from Syria, she established herself iii Lebanon, hoping to benefit from the relative freedom of the press. She is probably the most productive woman writerㆍand seeks to popularize her liberal ideas through a writing style that is emotional, humorous, and even satiric. She has addressed virtually all the major problems confronting Arabs today with particular attention to the concerns of Arab Women. And she treated such topics as women's emancipation, social stratification, and love of the homeland. And she has written on the different ideological, religious, and political problems of theㆍ Arabs in general, and those of the Lebanese and the Palestinian in particular. When the civil war came in Lebanon, she was one of the first Arab novelists to write about it. She showed a keen eye for exposing the social, political, economic, and sectarian flimsiness of Lebanese society. The aim of this study is to analyze her two novels from the perspective of contemporary feminist literary theory. And it reveals that her works gave modern Arabic Literature a new dimension and expressed a unique vision of her own inner world as well as of the world around her.
