This study reveals the research results on the Korean halal chicken meat market as one of the most important components of the entire halal industry. One of our research results shows that 70-80% of local Muslim residents find it difficult to purchase halal chicken meat. The reasons for this include: quality (50%), expensive price (27.3%), lack of confidence (16.7%), and, difficulty in accessing to Muslim stores (8.3%). This result indicates that a very basic problem exists for Muslims who live or travel in Korea. Another result of our research reveals that the total halal chicken meat consumption in Korea is estimated to be 6,727 metric tons in 2013 and its value is estimated to reach 38.34 billion won. In Korea, the future consumption of halal chicken meat is anticipated to increase 47.8% over the next five years.
