A Study On Kurdish Language -Emphasing On Sorani Dialect-

In Korea the Kurdish studies have never been tried so far. So this paper is considered as one of the foundation of studies. Kurdish language plays a powerful role in the struggle of the Kurds for recognition as the same race. This language belongs to western Iranian language, a member of the Iranian branch of the Indo-European family of languages. Generally Kurdish is divided to main two parts; the Northern Kurmanji & the Southern Sorani. The researcher is here concerned with the key aspects of the grammar of Sorani Kurdish which is used in Sulaymania. Also, the researcher introduced the outline, situation of the Kurdish before the main chapter 4. The chapter 1 dealt the historical background of Kurds and the Chapter 2 dealt the kurdish situation. In the chapter 3 the researcher concentrated on the kurdish outline. In chapter 4, the researcher analyzed the linguistic features of Sorani Kurdish in the fields of phonological, morphological aspects and modification relation. The vowel number of Sorani Kurdish is 9 vowels, more than Arabic or Persian. In the Kurdish modification, Iza:fa as a construction in Arabic appeared the vowel /i/, connecting vowel between two connecting elements; noun+noun or adjective+noun.
