Recently, Chung (2014) made a very interesting observation that, in some contexts, an element that is apparently outside the c-command domain of a focus delimiter can still be interpreted as a focus. He examines three possible analyses of this phenomenon and opts for an approach that appeals to the configuration of parallel merge. The goal of this squib is to briefly evaluate Chung's proposal and also to point out that there may be a fourth possibility to consider as an adequate analysis of the phenomenon in question.
