The acaricidal activity of extracts of Melia azedarach, Piper nigrum, Syringa velutina and their mixtures to the tea red spider mite, Tetranychus kanzawai Kishida was evaluated in laboratory bioassays. Treatments of ssakchungi??, mixture 1 and 2 were highly effective against adult females of T. kanzawai and yielded 86.0 to 92.7% adulticidal activity at 5 days after treatment. M. azedarach and mixture 3 revealed 75.3 and 79.3% adulticidal activity, respectively. However, P. nigrum and S. velutina had lower adulticidal activity than the other treatments. Adult females of T. kanzawai treated with the ssakchungi??, mixture 1 and 2 produced only 5.0-7.9% as many eggs as control females. The residue of the plant extracts tested had low adulticidal activity (17.3-60%). All the plant extracts tested were ineffective against the eggs of T. kanzawai. Treatments of the ssakchungi??, mixture 1 and 2 were highly effective against the nymphs of T. kanzawai and caused only 9.5 to 13% emergence rates. These results suggest that the ssakchungi??, mixture 1 and 2 might be used for the control of T. kanzawai.
