공자의 예악사상으로 살펴본 유아음악교육의 방향 탐색

Explore the directions of early childhood music education based on Confucius’ Li-Yue thougt - Focused on 『The Analects of Confucius』 and「Akgi」of『Yegi』 -

본 연구의 목적은 『논어』와 『예기』의 「악기」편에 나타난 공자의 예악사상을 살펴보고 이를 통해 유아음악교육의 방향을 탐색하는 데 있다. 유아음악교육은 음악적 재능과 기술을 숙달시키는 것이 아니라 삶 속에서 자연스럽게 이루어져야 한다. 그럼에도 불구하고 현장에서는 생활주제와 관련된 노래 부르기에 치중되어 있을 뿐만 아니라 어려운 이론 중심의 교육이나 수준급의 악기 다루기에 중점을 두고 있어 이를 바로 잡기 위한 노력이 필요하다. 『논어』는 공자의 사상이 집결되어 있는 문헌으로 음악에 대한 사상도 고르게 담겨 있으며, 『예기』의 「악기」편은 가장 오래되고 깊은 철학이 담긴 동양의 음악이론으로 알려져 있다. 두 가지 고서는 예악사상과 특히 ‘악(樂)’에 대한 전반적인 내용들을 모두 살필 수 있으므로 이를 고찰해 보는 것은 의미가 있다고 본다. 이에 따라 『논어』와 『예기』의「악기」편에서 찾은 유아음악교육의 방향은 다음과 같다. 우선 음악은 즐기는 것이 되어야 한다. 그리고 음악은 마음이 통해야 하고 천지만물과 조화를 이루어야 한다. 또한 음악은 생활 속에서 펼쳐져야 하며 움직임(춤)이 동반되어야 한다. 이처럼 음악의 본질을 되찾고자 하는 공자의 예악사상은 유아음악교육에 많은 시사점을 제공한다.

The purpose of this study is to examine Confucius’ Li-Yue thought found in 『The Analects of Confucius』 and 「Akgi」 of 『Yegi』 and explore the directions of early childhood music education based on that. Early childhood music education should not force children to master musical talent or skills but let them acquire it naturally in their lives. In the field of education, however, it is focused on singing songs related with life topics and also playing difficult instruments or learning hard theories; thus, it is needed to make efforts to correct this. 『The Analects of Confucius』 is a literature in which Confucius’ ideas are concentrated and also his musical thoughts are included evenly, and the 「Akgi」 of 『Yegi』 is known as Oriental music theory that is the oldest and contains his profound philosophy. It is meaningful to consider these two old books because we can examine both his Li-Yue thought and especially the overall contents of ‘ak (樂)’ from them. Accordingly, this study has found the directions for early childhood music education from 『The Analects of Confucius』 and 「Akgi」 of 『Yegi』 as follows: first, music should be to enjoy. Second, music should let people communicate with their mind and be harmonized with all creatures. Third, music should be unfolded in our lives and accompanied with motions (dance). Like this, Confucius’ Li-Yue thought intending to recover the essence of music provides us with a lot of implications for early childhood music education.
