The purpose of this study was to analyze the results of an evaluative survey conducted among elementary students concerning authorized English textbooks for the 2009 revised national curriculum. Four textbooks were selected for the students' evaluation, and 330 4th-grade students participated in the present study. Evaluative criteria were primarily categorized into two areas: 1) How positively the students perceive the textbooks in terms of contents and activities as well as organization and visual composition; 2) How positively the students evaluate the CD-ROM title. The analysis revealed that the textbooks were perceived positively overall by the students, although the writing activities were evaluated the lowest based on student interest and the difficulty of the materials. The visual materials, unit evaluation, and supplementary materials in the appendix were evaluated positively, whereas the students did not show a high level of satisfaction with the characters in the textbooks. Even though the students evaluated the CD-ROM title positively overall, the level of students’ satisfaction varied, especially with regard to the video clips presenting dialogs, songs, and chants. Based on the findings, some implications about subsequent development of textbooks were suggested. In addition, suggestions for further study in English textbooks were included.
