Economic Impacts of Busan Shipping and Port Logistic Industry on the Regional Economy Revisited

This paper constructs an input-output table of 31 sectors of 2010 Busan regional economy and studies the economic impacts of Busan shipping and port logistic industry on the regional economy. The major results indicate that in terms of the value of production, value added and the number of employees, Busan shipping and port logistic industry accounts for about 21%, 23%, and 27% of the nation-wide shipping and port logistic industry, respectively. Moreover, the economic impacts of Busan shipping and port logistic industry on the regional economy are estimated to be an increase of about 14.5~15.5 billion dollars in the regional production, an increase of about 4.5 billion dollars in the regional value added and an increase of about 80,000 jobs in the regional labor market.
