This paper explores the structural relationships between external environment and entrepreneurial orientation on the performance of international ocean service firms in Korea. The development of the research model is based on empirical literature on entrepreneurial orientation. We collected data of 102 shipping companies using a survey questionnaire from September 10, 2013 through November 10, 2014; and tested the model using partial least squares regression. The empirical results suggest that entrepreneurial orientation is affected by market turbulence, competitive intensity, and technology turbulence. In addition, findings indicate that entrepreneurial orientation has a positive effect on the performance of international ocean service firms. Some academic contributions and policy implications based on the results of this research study are suggested.
