Crafting Economic Cooperation Strategies to Promote Trade and Investment between Korea and Mongolia

This paper aims to suggest eco-political strategies to promote economic cooperation between Korea and Mongolia. Even though Mongolia has been achieving remarkable economic growth during the last 10 years, there is enormous vulnerability in the national economic structure and fragility in the international economic relation This is evident in the slowing down of economic growth, inclination of industry structure, decrease of foreign capital inflow, increase of external debt, instability of the financial system. In order to stabilize the Mongolian economy in critical points, it should be a strategic choice of Mongolia to reinforce international economic cooperation especially through bilateral agreement. This paper recommends that Korea should promote more actively the trade and investment by means of bilateral negotiations with Mongolia. Both countries could benefit through industry cooperation and FTA oriented strategies.
