새로운 복음화와 가톨릭 학교교육의 향방(向方)

교황 요한 바오로 2세에 의해 선포된 ‘새로운 복음화’의 목적은 복음화가 체현되지 못하고 있는 현대 그리스도인의 신앙과 삶을 변화시키는데 있다. 교회가 ‘복음의 선포자’가 되기 위해서는 먼저 교회가 스스로 복음화 되어야 함을 강조한 것이라 할 수 있다. 한국의 가톨릭 학교 또한 교육을 통해 ‘새로운 복음화’를 실현하고자 노력해왔다. 그러나 입시위주의 교육여건 속에서 새로운 복음화 사명을 수행하기 쉽지 않은 것이 현실이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 가톨릭 학교의 새로운 복음화에 대한 사명을 가톨릭 교육의 정체성에서 찾아보았다. 한국 가톨릭 학교 교육이념에 대한 실태 분석을 하였고, 이를 토대로 가톨릭 학교 교육이념이 나아가야 할 방향을 모색하였다. 한국 사회에서 가톨릭 학교가 ‘새로운 복음화’의 의미로 쇄신할 수 있는 단초를 ‘사회의 복음화’에서 찾은 것이 아니라 오히려 ‘복음의 사회화’에서 찾았다. 가톨릭 학교에서 ‘복음의 사회화’를 현대사회 속에서 실현하기 위해서 구체적인 인간관이 요청되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 현대사회에서 요청하고 있는 구체적인 인간을 ‘의인’의 개념을 통해 살펴보았다. 의인은 하느님의 정의로움 안에서 조화로운 관계를 실현해 낼 수 있는 이 시대의 새로운 복음화가 지향하는 보편적인 인간상이라 할 수 있다. 마지막으로 ‘의인’이 수행해야 할 새로운 복음화의 사명을 사회정의와 생태정의 개념 안에서 살펴보았다. 사회정의와 생태 정의는 바로 가톨릭 학교 교육이 지향해야 할 ‘복음의 사회화’임을 본 논문에서 고찰하였다.

The aim of New Evangelization proclaimed by Pope John Paul II is to change modern Christians lives and faith that cannot be embodied at the moment. It stressed that church itself should be evangelized first to be a leader of Evangelization. Korean Catholic schools have tried to realize the New Evangelization through the education. However, it s not easy to perform a new Evangelization mission under the excessive competition for college entrance in the Korean education system. Therefore, this study tried to find the mission for a new evangelization in the identity of Catholic education. It analyzed the realities of philosophy of Korean Catholic School, on ths basis of this analysis, it explored the direction of Korean Catholic School s philosophy. Catholic school have tried to find the clue rather from socialization of Evangelization to renovate the meaning of New Evanglization , not from Evangelization of Society. To realize Socialization of Evangelization in the Catholic school in modern society, a specific view of human beings is requested at the moment. This study explored a specific human being requested in modern society with the concept of Dikaios . Dikaios is the universal picture of human beings that is New Evangelization oriented in this era. Finally, this study tried to search for a new mission of New Evangelization that Dikaios should perform in the concepts of social justice and ecological justice. It suggested that those concepts should be Socialization of Evangelization that Catholic School should persue.
