대학 교양 교육에서 스토리텔링을 활용한 의사소통 방안

본 논문의 목표는 대학 교양 교육에서 대학생들의 합리적 의사소통 능력을 증진시키고자 방안을 제시하는 것이다. 본 논문에서는 이익이나 목표가 충돌할 경우 개인 간이나 집단 간 서로의 이해관계를 고려하는 협력적 의사소통인 협상 능력을 길러주는 방안에 초점을 맞추고자 한다. 우리나라 각 대학 교양 글쓰기를 담당하는 교수자들은 대학생들의 논리적 사고나 창의적 사고 함양, 합리적인 문제 해결 능력이나 의사소통 능력 증진 등에 대하여 책임감을 갖고 있지만, 교육과정이나 커리큘럼의 여건상 어려움이 많다. 본 논문 역시 이러한 문제를 효율적으로 해결하는 데 보태고자 실제 수업 사례를 고찰하고 수업 모형을 탐색해 보려는 것이다. 현대사회는 개인이나 집단의 욕망, 이해관계가 충돌하면서 다양한 갈등 속에 놓여 있다. 갈등의 상황에서 개인이나 집단이 원하는 바를 얻기 위해서는 보다 합리적인 협상이 필요한데 이때 필요한 것이 의사소통 기술이다. 이해 충돌의 상황에서 한 쪽의 승리로 끝날 경우 또 다른 갈등을 야기할 가능성이 있다. 따라서 협상을 통해 양쪽 당사자가 윈-윈 할 수 있는 방법을 탐색해 본 것이다. 합리적 의사소통 능력은 사회적 인간으로 성장하고 성숙한 시민이 되는 데 반드시 필요한 요건이다. 특히 상호 이익을 존중하면서 갈등을 조정하는 능력은 건강한 사회를 위해서도 대학생들이 갖추어야 할 역량이다. 본 논문은 이러한 문제의식에서 출발하여 대학생들이 갖추어야 하는 의사소통 능력 증진을 '생각 열기'와 협상의 측면에서 고찰하고자 한다.

This study reviewed the plans for writing and speaking education for improving communication in college liberal arts curriculums. The communicative skills are very important in modern society. In particular, the education system of Korea is concentrating on college entrance exams without practically dealing with education for rational and mature communication. Many college students were found to have troubles in their daily life, jobs, and social relations because of poor communicative skills, during college and even after graduation. In this study, the plans for experiencing and reorganizing communication problems through storytelling are suggested. Writing and speaking may be difficult to be applied in our actual life only with theories. This study is to review the plans that practically improve the communicative skills through storytelling practices. Writing and speaking are all communication activities. In this study, the plans for writing and speaking education for systematic and mature communicative skills required for college students is suggested through storytelling. College students are accustomed to communication via digital media without having opportunities for rational communication in high school curriculums. They are getting uncomfortable with logical and systematical expression of their opinions because communication via digital media such as SNS tends to be fragmentary or emotional. In addition, they lack ability to wisely and rationally resolve problematic situations through communication. This study focused on the values of storytelling in communication. Communication problems will be analyzed and improvement plans were established using empathic storytelling. This study specifically showed the plans that can practically deal with communication problems which are neglected from college writing and speaking education. Furthermore, it is expected to provide opportunity of thinking about the goals, effects, and identities of writing and speaking subjects. The goal of the study is to improve the communicative skills of college students through writing and speaking. In this study, various plans such as thinking from various perspectives, negotiation, sympathy through expression and acceptance, win-win negotiation and problem solving will be suggested as the solution to contribute to improving the mature communicative skills of college students.
