The validity of simultaneously developing old and new town of Local Metropolitan cities: the case of Daejeon city in Korea

Local metropolitan cities are similar to Seoul metro area in developing old and new town simultaneously. But Their urban development plans should be different because they have different demographic characteristics. So this study is aimed to review the validity of Local Metropolitan cities' plan about developing old and new town simultaneously. To achieve the objective, this study compared housing demand and housing supply in Daejeon City. In the result, this study find that housing supply by the year 2020 is larger than the demand and suggest several implications for urban development policy of Local metropolitan cities.
