A Study of the Theology of the Lord's Prayer

이 논문에서 필자는 마태복음 6장 9-13절과 누가복음 11장 2b-4절에 기록된 주기도문에 나타난 초기 제자공동체의 소망을 고찰하고자 한다. 논문은 크게 본문 분석, 신학적 주제 해설, 해석 및 적용의 세 부분으로 구성되어 있다. 논문의 첫 번째 부분은 마태복음과 누가복음에 언급된 주기도문 본문에 대한 주석적 연구이다. 이 연구는 문맥, 어휘, 구조의 관점에서 두 본문의 유사점과 차이점에 주목하여 두 본문 사이의 공통자료를 추출하고, 나아가 국제 Q 프로젝트의 연구결과를 바탕으로 예수말씀 Q 복음서 안으로 복원 가능한 범위를 확정지을 것이다. 또한 복원된 예수말씀과 마태복음, 마가복음의 본문의 변이들을 편집사적인 관점에서 해명하고자 한다. 본문에 대한 이러한 분석과 해명과정 중에 초기 공동체들―Q 공동체, 마태공동체, 누가공동체-의 각기 독특한 개성이 드러날 것이다. 논문의 두 번째 부분은 이 같은 본문 주석을 바탕으로 한 초기 제자공동체의 종말론적 비전에 대한 신학적 고찰을 시도한다. 통상적으로 어떤 한 공동체에 있어 공동기도문은 그 공동체의 자기이해와 소명(소망)이해를 가장 압축적으로 반영하고 있다고 볼 때, 우리는 주기도문 연구에서 초기 예수제자공동체의 핵심적인 자기 이해와 소망이해를 발견할 수 있다. 논문의 세 번째 부분은 이 같은 초기제자공동체의 종말론적 소망 이해에 기초로 한 오늘날 우리의 교회 현실에 대한 반성이다. 요컨대, 예수가 소망하였고 이어 제자들이 꿈꾸었던 하나님 나라 공동체의 모습이 주기도문에 녹아들어 있기 때문에, 우리는 주기도문에 녹아든 그 공동체의 이상적 모습 속에서 오늘 우리 교회공동체가 나아가야 할 방향을 확인하게 될 것이다.

In this article I explore the early Christians' hope which is reflected in the Lord's prayer (Matthew 6:9-13; Luke 11:2b-4). The main body consists of three interrelated parts: exegetical analysis of the biblical text, exploration of its theological themes, and application to our present situation. The first part is an exegetical study of two versions of the Lord's prayer, one in the Gospel of Matthew and the other in the Gospel of Luke. In this study I explore them in terms of their similarities and differences in context, vocabulary, and structure. With a view to the conclusion of the International Q Project, furthermore, I attempt to restore the original version in the Gospel of Q. In addition, I examine the differences among the Gospels of Matthew, Luke, and Q from the perspective of the texts's editing history. In the process, I argue, the uniqueness of each community (Matthean, Lukan, and Q) in the early Christianity will be disclosed. In the second part of this article I discuss the theological themes embedded in the eschatological vision of Jesus' early disciples on the basis of the biblical exegesis. Given that in general a common prayer contains the community's understanding of its identity and mission in a dense form, one can find in the different versions of the Lord's prayer early Christians' self-understanding and hope. In the third part I reflect upon the current situation of our Christian churches in light of the eschatological hope of early Christians. Since in the Lord's prayer one discerns a picture of the ideal community which Jesus and his early disciples envisioned, this study of the Lord's prayer will shed light on the goal toward which our Christian churches should move.
