From the Apostles' Creed to Jesus' Own Trust in God

비록 표현 방식에 있어서 마태복음과 누가복음이 각각 차이를 보이고 있지만, 결과적으로 Q의 모든 예수 말씀들은 이미 신약성경에 존재하고 있다. 마태복음과 누가복음을 보면 직접 표현되어 있지는 않지만 마가복음의 유명한 이야기들 사이에 거의 숨겨져 있는 Q의 예수 말씀들을 발견할 수 있다. 나는 각각의 학자들로 구성된 팀을 조직하여 예수 말씀 복음서 Q의 복원을 위해 애쓰고 있다. 마태복음과 누가복음의 저자들이 Q의 내용을 가져와 편집했던 흔적들을 시작으로 우리 팀은 예수께서 사셨던 시기와 거의 근접한 시기에 사용되었던 어순으로 거슬러 올라갔다. 그리고 2000년도에는 복원된 Q 본문을 담고 있는 688 페이지의 두꺼운 책을 출판했는데, 이는 삼십년간 우리 팀이 행해 온 연구의 결과였다. 사실 지난 수 세기 동안 교회의 복음은 부활신앙과 바울 신학에 보다 많은 토대를 두어 왔기 때문에 예수께서 자신의 갈릴리 사역 시에 전하고자 했던 메시지는 종종 배제되어 왔다. 나는 본 소고를 사도신경으로 시작하여, 예수께서 말씀하시고 행하셨던 것에 초점을 두고서 예수를 위해 행하는 것과 예수를 반대하여 행하는 것 사이를 좁혀보고자 한다. 이러한 연구는 모든 사람을 용서하시는 하나님의 새로운 계시를 예수에게 연결을 지음으로써 용서를 받은 모든 사람들이 예수를 믿게 하는 하는 신앙에 이르도록 하려는데 그 목적이 있다. 그래서 예수를 믿는 다는 것이 무엇인지 그리고 사도신경을 넘어서 예수 안에 나타난 하나님을 신뢰하도록 이끄는 것이 목적이다.

I have spent the last 50 years studying Jesus in various ways, trying to get into a position where I could really hear him speaking, and know what he was trying to say, both to the people back then in Galilee, and still today to people around the world. I organized a team of international scholars that has tried to reconstruct this Sayings Source Q, word for word. We began by detecting the fingerprints of Matthew and Luke as they edited this sayings collection, and then moving behind their improvements to the older wording that more nearly goes back to Jesus. We published in 2000 a massive, 688-page book with the reconstructed text of Q, which was the result of that team research over the preceding generation. This reconstructed collection of sayings ascribed to Jesus is presented in Chapter 2 of The Gospel of Jesus, since it is primarily in this Sayings Source that Jesus' own Gospel is best preserved. We began with the Apostles' Creed, and tried to fill in the gap between what was done for Jesus and what was done against Jesus, by focusing on what was said and done by Jesus. This has led to Jesus' revelation of a new kind of all-forgiving God, in whom one is to have complete trust. So one can say that our understanding of what a follower of Jesus is supposed to believe has moved beyond the Apostles' Creed to Jesus's own trust in God.
