ICM 기반 과학영재 통합프로그램(Project Clarion)이 초등생의 과학적 개념과 창의성 향상에 미치는 효과

The effects of science integrated program(Project Clarion) based on ICM on science concept and creativity of elementary school students in lower grades

본 연구는 ICM(integrative curriculum model)을 기반으로 한 초등과학영재 통합프로그램(Project Clarion)이 초등 저학년 학생의 과학적 개념과 창의성 향상에 효과적인지를 확인하는 것에 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 서울의 A 초등학교에 재학 중인 초등학교 2학년 41명 중 21명을 실험집단으로 20명은 통제집단으로 무선 배치하였다. 그리고 사전, 사후검사로 과학적 개념 검사와 통합창의성 검사를 실시하였으며, 실험집단에는 Project Clarion을 적용하였다. 본 연구의 결과에 따르면, 실험집단과 통제집단 간에 과학적 개념과 창의적 능력에 있어서 차이가 통계적으로 유의미하게 나타나(p<.05), 프로그램을 적용한 수업의 효과가 있었음이 확인되었다. 따라서 ICM 기반 초등과학영재 통합프로그램을 영재학급과 일반학급에서 효과적으로 활용할 수 있는 방안에 대해 지속적으로 연구한다면, 과학적 개념과 창의성 향상을 위한 통합적 과학수업을 효과적으로 실시하기 위한 교육과정모형 및 수업 프로그램을 제안할 수 있을 것이다.

The purpose of this study was to validate the effect that the ICM-based science integrated program(Project Clarion) would have on scientific notion and creativity development of lower graders of elementary school. In this study, 41 second graders of A Elementary School located in Seoul were randomly assigned. Among them, 21 were assigned to the experiment group and the remaining 20 were assigned to the control group. Regarding the measurement tools, the scientific notion test(Jaquot, 2006) and integrated creativity test(Lee Gyeong-hwa, 2014) were used in this study. Moreover, the experiment group and control group were made to undergo pre-test prior to the start of experiment in order to verify homogeneity of both groups. For the post-experiment effect verification, the post-test was performed to validate the effect of ICM-based science integrated program through the t-test. As such, the ICM-based science integrated program was found to be effective in improving both scientific notion and creative capability among lower graders of elementary school. This researcher hopes that such class programs would be used in elementary education institutes for stimulating the scientific notion formation and creative capability development of lower graders of elementary school.
