발명영재의 생애목표 특성

Understanding Life Goals of Gifted Adolescents in Science and Invention

본 연구의 목적은 발명영재들이 일반적으로 생애목표에 대해 어떻게 인식하고 있는지, 또 어떤 생애목표에 중요성을 부여하고, 실천하고 있는지를 확인하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 발명영재로 선발되어 발명영재교육을 받고 있는 84명의 학생과 일반학생 84명을 대상으로 연구를 진행하였다. 연구 결과 발명영재들은 일반적으로 생애목표를 확인하고, 탐색 및 추 구하며 의미를 부여하는 데 일반학생들보다 더 많은 노력을 기울이는 것으로 나타났다. 생애목표별로 부여하는 중요성의 경우 발명영재들이 일반학생들에 비해 명예, 사회적 공헌, 자기성장 목표에 더 많은 중요성을 부여하고 있었다. 반면 일반학생들은 발명영재들에 비해 물질적 부에 더 많은 중요성을 부여하는 것으로 나타났다. 인간관계, 가정화목 목표에 있어서는 두 집단 간의 차이는 없었다. 생애목표별 실천 정도의 경우 물질적 부, 명예, 사회적 공헌, 인간관계, 자기성장 목표에서 발명영재 집단이 더 많은 실천을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 가정화목 목표의 경우 실천 정도에 있어 두 집단 간의 차이는 없었다. 연구결과 발명영재들이 일반학생들보다 더 명확한 생애목표 인식을 가지고 있으며, 이를 더 적극적으로 실천하고 있다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

The purpose of this study is to investigate how scientifically gifted students identified, pursued, explored, and valued on their life goal during adolecence. This study also examined what scientifically gifted students valued most in life and how they practiced and made a commitment to their life goals. Participants were 84 high school students who were idendified as gifted in science and invention, and 84 general ability students. The results showed that gifted students more identified, pursued, explored, and valued on their life goal than general ability students. Scientifically gifted students placed a higher value on honor, self-growth, and social contribution compared to non-gifted students, non-gifted students placed more value on financial well-being than gifted students. Other differences were found for higher levels of commitment for gifted students in honor, financial well-being, self-growth, human relationship, and social contribution than general ability studnets. This study revealed that gifted students are different from non-gifted students in setting life goals. The meaning of these differences is discussed.
